Noruwei no Mori

December 29, 2010

Of course I’ve read the book! (In English). Several times! Most recently I bought a new copy with the movie poster picture on the cover. This is something I almost always actively AVOID but for some reason I’ve got it into my head that this film is going to mean a lot to me. I still haven’t seen it, I just feel that way for some reason. I also bought two Norwegian Wood t-shirts from Uniqlo. (I’m wearing one in my last post!) Anyway, here’s a big poster in Yurakacho station with a weird travel destination tie-in!

But…but…why?? I’m in Norway though so um, yay?! No Northern lights might I add..but it was minus 17 yesterday and everything is covered with snow. It’s so pretty it’s almost ridiculous. Just looking at the trees makes me feel like crying because they’re so beautiful!

A Moomin film, based on my favourite Moomin book Comet in Moominland and in the style of the Polish stop motion series from the 70s/80s is premiering at Cannes! It looks BEAUTIFUL. The article I’m linking to here is in Norwegian and the video is the Finnish trailer. The English trailer is online but..um, I didn’t like the voice acting. I would wait for the Norwegian version to come out (not that the voice acting will necessarily be better!) but it won’t be released til October/November according to this article. I can’t wait that long!! Anyway, I am excited!

It was just like Christmas

December 28, 2009

Here are some little Christmas photos:

First Christmas in Japan/away from home. It was nice but also strange. Tried not to think too much about childhood and stuff…preparing for Christmas did make me feel like a grown up but not a real grown up..I can’t make my own mince pies and stuffing yet it seems. Although I am quite good at making vegetable pies.

Other Christmas things: Gremlins is scarier than I thought, I seem to have stared a Licca/Jenny doll collection, Bob Dylan’s Christmas album is really great, O Holy Night/Just Like Christmas/Deilig er den Himmel Blaa all have the power to make me cry for varying reasons.

Otherwise: watched Moon. it was good! I thought it would be scary but it wasn’t. It was sad! It did give me cosmic angst but not as much as Sunshine. Also, Modern Family is good! it’s a nice mix of funny, sarcastic and heartwarming. And lastly, Helen Kane is really really awesome.
